Kg Melayu Warga Emas Registration Day

The Air Itam community had two events running simultaneously on the morning of Mothers Day (9th of May).

While our regular Voters Registration Team members were up and sprightly doing their stuffs at Sunshine Farlim, Bandar Baru Air Itam that morning, just about a kilometer away, Pakcik Ariffin (pic on right) and his JKKK Kampung Melayu members were equally busy running the Warga Emas Registration service at the residents' community hall there.

With the village loud speaker making periodic announcements inviting senior citizens of the kampung to the community hall for this event', folks soon started arriving and members of the JKKK in red uniforms were there at hand to assist and to welcome the senior citizens into the hall.

Folks were given queuing numbers before they took their seats.

  By 10am most of the seats were taken and reporters seated at the front row, armed with their notebooks and cameras were all set and ready ...

"The RM100 may be just a paltry sum but it is nevertheless, our small token of sincere appreciation for your contributions to the Penang state in one way or another during your younger days. We have not forgotten you and what you have done for the state and country...."

The registration service began immediately after the opening speech and YB Wong personally attended to some of the Warga Emas applications and inquiries .......

before rushing over to Sunshine Farlim to give moral support to our Voter Registration volunteers there....

VR service EVERY SATURDAY at Sunshine Farlim!

In view of the good response we had for the past 2 weekend 'JOM DAFTAR UNDI' (Voters Registration) campaigns at SUNSHINE FARLIM, we are happy to announce that our VR Team is continuing this community service there EVERY SATURDAY from 5pm to 10pm.

Please relay this good news to your friends, colleagues, relatives, neighbors or anyone and everyone you meet ........ Remember, your action and small effort today to get them registered & vote will help determine a better tomorrow for all Malaysians!

JOM DAFTAR UNDI venues on Sunday 9thMAY

Here is the list of venues for the JOM DAFTAR UNDI campaign to register new voters on Sunday 9thMay2010.

Also, please note that SPR officers will be at Sunshine Farlim from noon to 5pm to attend to voter’s change of address.

Upon catching wind that citizen Journalist from Malaysiakini, Mr.Jimmy Leow and other reporters from the Chinese media were coming to interview our ADUN on our weekly night market operation, our VR (Voters Registration) team decided to make that April 28 Wednesday night a mini pre-launch publicity event for the then forthcoming statewide 1st MAY VOTERS REGISTRATION CAMPAIGN.....

as Sdr.Khoo and Sdr. Joseph Tan got in the thick of action....

With a larger than the usual team of volunteers from our Air Itam branch and a dozen more comrades from Sri Delima and Paya Terubong branch turning up and bustling around in their bright red new campaign uniform, we were obviously a head-turning sight there. 

As we expected, the hustle and bustle of our 'men in RED' and our periodic loudhailer announcements attracted many curious visitors passing by and that gave us the opportunity to spread greater awareness of the week-long VOTERS REGISTRATION campaign.

While our 'red soldiers' were busy filling out the registration forms, answering inquiries or spreading out to woo potential eligible voters, our two ADUNs (Sdr.YB Wong Hon Wai and Sdr.YB Yeoh Soon Hin) were seen stationed at the forefront distributing colorful campaign balloons to little children and exchanging smiles and greetings with their parents and other passersby. 


It was indeed a night well-spent and the great teamwork of our close-knit members once again reiterated our belief that  
when we have fun  
working and bonding as a team..... 
SUCCESS is just INEVITABLE!

Penang's VOTERS REGISTRATION CAMPAIGN

There is currently an estimated 4.3 million eligible but unregistered voters out there and 80 per cent of these are people below 30. These are people who can help make a CHANGE for a better country if they are registered to exercise their voting rights.

So, let’s help to spread the message by asking relatives, friends and acquaintances beginning today whether they have registered as a voter.

If they are eligible but have yet to register, please inform them that we are having a statewide VOTERS REGISTRATION CAMPAIGN at major shopping malls and other venues on the 1st and 9th, May 2010.

Please note that we can only assist to register NEW voters and registration is according to the address stated in the I.C.

We are NOT able to change your voting address.

For those who wish to change their voting address, they have to change the address in their I.C with JPN and then proceed to the nearest post office 
or directly to Pejabat Pilihan Raya Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tingkat 36, KOMTAR, Penang 
for the change of voting address.

Operasi "PASAR MALAM"

Guys, if you happen to see someone with a loudhailer blaring “ Lai lai..tengki suan koo jit paeng!” at the Farlim big pasar malam on Wednesday nights (and also at the smaller one down the road opposite Sin Kang Chinese school on Thursdays) … that ‘walawala’ man is none other than our Sdr. Tan June Ju, who is part of our branch's VOTERS REGISTRATION Team there.


Operating with just a plastic table, 3 stools, a chargeable fluorescence lamp, 2 SPR banners, but a bigger group of 4-6 volunteers now, our team is fast making our operation presence at these pasar malam venues known and felt. ….

Not only we are now successfully reaping between 80-100 applications per night there, our ‘Operasi pasar malam’ is becoming a fun activity! So if you are free on such nights, join us there and have fun fostering closer ties with the other members of our DAP Air Itam community!
